Where listings come from
We searched Google Maps for «weight loss clinic in» followed by each state name, for all 50 states, on Nov 2, 2026. A state search returns roughly 40–120 places, so the directory is not a complete census. Clinics returned for a state but located in another are moved to their real state using the address and the map coordinates (checked against US Census state boundaries).
What we exclude
Gyms, supplement stores, chiropractors, aesthetic-only spas and body-contouring centers, and commercial diet programs run without a clinician. Med spas, wellness centers and nutritionists are included only when their own website shows a medical weight program. Permanently closed places and duplicates are removed.
How we read clinic websites
For each clinic with its own website we read the home page and up to three internal pages about services, pricing, insurance or telehealth, once, with an identified crawler that respects robots.txt. We record what the pages state, with the exact page and the date. Social media pages and booking platforms are not used as sources. Websites with spam or parked domains are not linked.
Labels
- Their website — stated on the clinic's own website when we read it (date shown).
- Visitors — reported by visitors; shown with the number of votes; never changes a fact by itself.
- Unknown — we found no statement. Unknown is not «no».
- Verified — reserved for facts confirmed by a person against the source. As of today no listing carries it.
The quality gate
Each listing gets an internal Clinic Utility Score (0–100): identity and location (20), contact channels (15), services stated on its website (20), nearby alternatives (15), decision details such as price or insurance (15), freshness of sources (10) and working tools (5). Listings with 70 or more and no blocking issue (for example, medical care not confirmed) are offered to search engines; the rest stay visible to visitors but marked noindex until their data improves. Today 1,956 of 3,249 listings pass. This is our own editorial rule, not a Google requirement.
What we never do
- Invent prices, insurance, hours, clinicians or services.
- Infer GLP-1 prescribing from the words «weight loss».
- Show ratings or reviews from Google or other sites.
Standards we follow include Google's spam policies (scaled content, doorway pages). Found an error? Corrections.
